Bee Entertainment Unveils Horror-Heavy Slate at Busan, Headlined by ‘Arithmadtic’

Vietnam’s Bee Entertainment is showcasing a genre-focused lineup at the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan, anchored by the psychological horror film “Arithmadtic.” The company aims to capitalize on the domestic success of Vietnamese cinema, which grossed over VND3 trillion ($114 million) in 2025, surpassing international releases in its home market for the first time.

The Busan presentation highlights four feature films slated for 2027 release alongside three long-form television dramas. Bee Entertainment is utilizing the market to secure investment partners, co-development opportunities, distribution agreements, and rights licensing deals.

“Arithmadtic,” also known as “Cong Tru Nhan Chia,” follows a transfer student whose mysterious connection with a teacher unravels the polished exterior of an elite international school through a series of supernatural events. Styled with a Dark Academia aesthetic, the film stars Anh Thu, known for the Vietnam-South Korea co-production “Muoi: The Legend of a Portrait,” and Lam Thanh My, who appeared in “Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass.” Phuong Tra My, the lead in “The Third Wife,” also joins the cast, alongside Chu Anh Tuan, Cong Ninh, Hoang Minh Hung, and Dac Thang. Directed by Irving Ly, whose short film “Close the Eye to See” won a Silver Kite at Vietnam’s 2025 Golden Kite Awards, the movie is scheduled for release in January 2027.

The remaining features complete a diverse slate for the upcoming year. Tran Nhan Kien directs “The Step-Mother,” due in the second quarter; the story explores the evolving relationship between a boy and his stepmother after the death of his father. Pom Nguyen, who helmed the blockbuster “The Corpse” franchise, returns with “How to Find a Fortune in 60 Days,” an action-comedy-family drama arriving in the third quarter. Le Ha Nguyen’s horror romantic comedy “Dealing With a Ghost” will close out the film releases in the fourth quarter.

On the television front, Bee Entertainment highlighted “The Unrecognized Heir,” an 80-episode family drama directed by Trac Huynh Nhat Tan that premiered on VTV9 in December 2025. According to the company, the series has amassed one billion views across social media platforms. Other projects include “A Deal With God,” a 65-episode series blending family drama with comedy and fantasy directed by Dang Minh Quoc, and “Destined to Find You,” an 80-episode romance currently in post-production.

Bee Entertainment, a subsidiary of Bee Comm, was founded in 2009 and is involved in the investment, production, release, and sales of both local and international films. Bee Comm also produces the Vietnamese version of “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?” and the social-impact program “Mai Am Gia Dinh Viet” (“The Vietnamese Family Shelter”).

The ACFM runs through October 31, while the Busan International Film Festival concludes on October 15.

  1. A billion views is impressive, but I hope they prioritize quality over quantity for the film slate this year.
