Bardella Accused of Deleting Evidence Following Anti-Semitism Probe

New allegations have emerged against Jordan Bardella, the top ally of National Rally leader Marine Le Pen, suggesting he attempted to destroy evidence linked to past social media activity. According to Le Canard enchaîné, Bardella deleted data from a former activist Facebook account immediately after claims surfaced that he had authored anti-Semitic writings in his youth.

The publication, known for its investigative work, stated that extracts of private conversations showed all data from an account Bardella used during his early years with the Front National was erased between September 28 and October 2. This timeline coincides with the release of initial reports by Mediapart, which first broke the story last week.

Mediapot also reported on Friday that it identified similarities between messages posted on Bardella’s personal Facebook account and those found on the official X account of the National Rally leader. These developments come days after Bardella insisted he had “no Facebook account” and had not used the platform for an extended period.

Bardella’s team has categorically rejected the new accusations. His associates stated that he had “never logged into any Facebook account nor deleted any messages,” and announced that a defamation complaint would be filed in the coming hours. Bardella has previously described the allegations as part of a “total war” orchestrated to derail the RN’s political ambitions.

The initial Mediapart report featured screenshots of alleged Facebook Messenger exchanges containing hostile remarks about Jewish people and Zionism. Bardella has denied writing these comments, vowing to take legal action against the outlet.

Despite the escalating controversy, Marine Le Pen continues to support her protégé, who is viewed as a potential prime minister if she wins next year’s presidential election. Le Pen has expressed “complete confidence” in Bardella, even as the allegations threaten to undermine his defenses and add pressure to the far-right party’s image.
