Labour has retained the Holborn and St Pancras constituency, a result expected to provide significant relief for Andy Burnham amid intense competition for the ideological left in British politics. The by-election was triggered after former Prime Minister Keir Starmer vacated the seat in September.
The contest was widely viewed as a head-to-head matchup between Labour’s Sagal Abdi-Wali and Green Party leader Zack Polanski. Abdi-Wali secured the win with 12,292 votes, outpacing Polanski’s total of 8,928.
