A United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer discharged his weapon at a man inside a vehicle in New York City on Thursday afternoon, an incident that also involved a five-year-old child, according to Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani released a statement Thursday evening addressing the shooting. He noted that initial reports suggested federal agents had surrounded the man and the child before multiple gunfire shots were fired. The mayor confirmed that the child sustained no physical injuries.
Authorities have taken the wounded man to a hospital for treatment. Mayor Mamdani strongly condemned the incident, describing the agent’s actions as “unconscionable.”
Thank goodness the kid was okay, but who authorized shooting into a car with a child inside? We need answers now.
How can any official call this unconscionable and not demand immediate arrests? This is police brutality, plain and simple.
