Millions of residents along the United States Gulf coast are facing hurricane warnings as Hurricane Isaias approaches the region. Meteorologists have cautioned of hazardous storm surges, hurricane-force winds, torrential rain, and significant flooding risks.
The system intensified from a tropical storm into a hurricane late Wednesday night, marking it as the inaugural hurricane of the 2026 Atlantic hurricane season. In response, governors in both Florida and Alabama have declared states of emergency.
Emergency officials are urging inhabitants in areas stretching from the Mississippi River delta to Florida to evacuate immediately if instructed to do so. Several counties in Florida have already issued evacuation orders and closed schools as authorities prepare for the storm’s imminent arrival.
My cousin in Alabama just got the evacuation notice. Please check on your neighbors!
First hurricane of the season already? That seems early. Hope they aren’t overreacting.
Stay safe out there. The storm surge warnings are no joke this time around.
