Donald Trump’s campaign event in San Antonio on Wednesday was marked by multiple disruptions as protesters interrupted the former president’s remarks. Trump used the platform to urge Texas voters to support embattled Senate candidate Ken Paxton.
According to reports, at least six demonstrators intervened during the speech. Police were seen leading some of the protesters away from the venue. In one incident, an older supporter of Trump physically assaulted a protester who was attempting to exit the arena.
At one point, Trump stepped away from the microphone after a demonstrator appeared to approach the stage, though the rally resumed following the interruptions.
Paxton’s legal troubles clearly drew a very specific kind of crowd. This is predictable politics at its messiest.
I am honestly surprised more people didn’t show up to protest. Did you see the crowd size versus the number of arrests?
The assault on the protester is alarming. Where was the security detail during that incident?
Six interruptions is a lot for one rally. Seems like tensions are running incredibly high in Texas right now.
