With Israel observing the third anniversary of the October 7 attacks, significant questions persist regarding the intelligence warnings Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received in the period leading up to the assault.
In an interview with FRANCE 24’s Mark Owen, Ayala Panievsky, a lecturer at City University of London and author of The New Censorship, analyzed the political landscape surrounding the premier. She described the allegations emerging prior to the elections as deeply damaging to Netanyahu’s reputation.
However, Panievsky highlighted several elements that appear to be reducing the political risk for the prime minister. These mitigating factors include a divided opposition and Netanyahu’s continued influence over major media outlets.
