Declan Rice Nears New Arsenal Contract Deal

Declan Rice is on the verge of agreeing to a new long-term contract with Arsenal, according to sources familiar with the situation. The England international has been a pivotal figure for the Gunners since completing his high-profile transfer from West Ham United for £105 million in July 2023.

Although his existing deal is set to expire at the conclusion of next season, negotiations for an extension have progressed to an advanced stage. BBC Sport first reported that contract discussions were underway back in March, and those talks have since moved significantly forward.

The 27-year-old midfielder has established himself as a cornerstone of the team, recording more than 150 starts for Arsenal. His impact on the international stage has also been recognized by England manager Thomas Tuchel, who recently identified Rice as one of the finest midfielders in Europe.

Under the proposed agreement, Rice is expected to receive a substantial pay rise from his current reported salary of £240,000 per week. The new terms would bring his earnings in line with club captain Bukayo Saka, who is understood to command approximately £350,000 weekly, making him the club’s highest-paid player.

This development follows the recent announcement of Mikel Arteta’s new four-year contract extension with the Premier League champions, reinforcing the club’s commitment to retaining its key personnel and leadership.
