Two people have died and several others were injured after a school bus carrying children rolled over during a multi-vehicle collision on Monday morning in central Florida.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd announced that the bus, which was en route to a high school, had 39 passengers on board. According to Judd, the occupants included 37 high school students, the bus driver, and the driver’s 9-year-old daughter.
The crash occurred around 6:15 a.m. in Winter Haven, Florida. Sheriff Judd confirmed that the fatalities include a tenth-grade girl on the bus and an individual traveling in a Jeep involved in the accident.
I’m shocked to hear two died. Winter Haven isn’t known for accidents like this. What caused the rollover?
How is the nine-year-old driver’s daughter even on board? That seems highly unusual and concerning.
My heart is broken for those families. Please stay safe and keep the students in your thoughts.
