Emergency responders have launched a search and rescue mission in southern Nigeria following the crash of a military aircraft carrying 32 people. The plane, identified as an ATR-42, went down on Monday in the Igbokoda area of Ondo state.
Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo confirmed that the aircraft was operating a routine mission bound for Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, when it crashed. The Nigerian Air Force stated that personnel are currently scoping the wreckage site.
The aircraft was transporting 25 passengers and seven crew members. As of now, authorities have not released any information regarding the number of survivors or casualties, nor have they disclosed the extent of the damage to the plane.
32 people on board… that’s 32 families shattered. The uncertainty is the worst part. Please let someone survive this tragedy.
What caused the crash? Routine flights shouldn’t end like this. Hoping for a swift and transparent investigation into the ATR-42’s maintenance records.
Praying for survivors. Thirty-two lives hanging in the balance. May God intervene and bring them home safely today.
