Officer Asked Colleague If Murderer Escaped Justice Day Before Fatal Shooting, Court Hears

During proceedings at a Sydney court on October 2, 2026, evidence emerged that police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon inquired with a fellow officer about whether convicted murderer Paul Thijssen would have avoided capture had he not taken his own life. This inquiry occurred just one day before Lamarre-Condon is alleged to have fatally shot Jesse Baird and Luke Davies.

Lamarre-Condon, 31, faces charges of murdering the couple using his police service weapon. The incident took place on February 19, 2024, at Baird’s residence in Paddington.

  1. One day beforehand… this points to something cold and calculated rather than an impulsive crime of passion.

  2. I remember when Thijssen died in custody. The legal system’s flaws on that case were widely debated by the public.

  3. Does this context actually explain the motive, or does it just show a messed-up state of mind? Still monstrous regardless.

  4. It is deeply chilling that he was ruminating on this just twenty-four hours before the murders. That premeditation changes everything.
