A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral in Florida, carrying the Crew-13 team on a journey to the International Space Station. The mission marks a notable personal milestone for the crew, as it includes a Canadian astronaut whose wife is expecting their third child. According to CBSNews, this makes the crew the fourth couple in the history of spaceflight to welcome a baby while one parent is orbiting Earth.
The launch was originally scheduled for mid-September but faced a postponement due to the need for a valve replacement in the Crew Dragon’s propulsion system. NASA reports that the spacecraft will take approximately 7 hours and 50 minutes to dock with the station, where the astronauts will conduct various experiments and research aimed at supporting future missions to the Moon and Mars.
Can’t wait to see the moon and mars research results from this mission. The ISS is such a vital lab.
Propulsion valve delays are still a headache. Glad they took the time to fix it properly rather than rushing.
That’s absolutely wild! Four couples in all of history. I hope the new parents get to video call as soon as possible.
