Former New York City firefighter and 9/11 first responder Richard Roeill recently appeared on François Picard’s program to discuss his experiences and the ongoing impact of the terrorist attacks. Rather than treating the events of September 11 as a distant historical chapter, Roeill described the anniversary as a living memory that continues to reactivate trauma for those who survived.
Roeill emphasized that the health consequences faced by emergency personnel remain vividly present decades later due to prolonged exposure to the toxic air at Ground Zero. He revealed that responders were misled about the dangers they encountered, prompting him to call for greater accountability and sustained healthcare support for those affected.
