Marking New York City’s Dolly Parton Appreciation Day, CBS News has highlighted a 60 Minutes archive segment documenting the legendary entertainer’s initial journey to the metropolis.
During a 2009 interview with correspondent Morley Safer, Parton reflected on her first arrival in New York, which coincided with the run of the Broadway musical “Hello, Dolly!” Reflecting on the milestone, she told Safer, “I thought, ‘Hey, I’ve arrived. I’m here.'”
The archival footage offers a look back at the moment Parton felt she had truly reached the pinnacle of her career in the entertainment capital of the world.
