On Thursday, a coalition comprising 21 states, led by New York, initiated legal action against the Trump administration over the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) revocation of regulations that restrict planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions from coal and natural gas power plants.
The Democratic-led lawsuit also encompasses Pennsylvania’s governor, the District of Columbia, New York City, Chicago, and the city and county of Denver. The plaintiffs argue that dismantling one of the nation’s most significant climate safeguards will cause substantial setbacks for the United States and exacerbate the ongoing climate crisis.
