While recent reports from The Times suggested that up to 4,000 positions could be at risk due to falling sales and the impact of tariffs, JLR told the BBC it had not confirmed specific job loss figures. A spokesperson confirmed that employees and trade union partners were informed on the same day that salaried and management staff are being offered the opportunity to leave voluntarily. “We will share further information with our colleagues first,” the statement read.<\/p>\n
The announcement has drawn sharp criticism from labor representatives. Unite general secretary Sharon Graham described the situation as a “perfect storm” for the automotive sector, arguing that prolonged decline has been overlooked by successive governments.
