The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has successfully deployed its inaugural imaging satellite into geosynchronous orbit, signaling a recovery for the nation’s space program after a mission failure earlier this year.<\/p>\n
Lift-off occurred at 2:55 a.m. local time (2125 UTC) from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, aboard a Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV). Approximately 18 minutes after ignition, ISRO confirmed that the EOS-05 Earth observation satellite had achieved its designated sub-geosynchronous transfer orbit.<\/p>\n
This mission represents the 19th flight for India’s GSLV rocket and carries significant weight as ISRO’s first successful launch of 2026. It follows a setback in January, when a Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle failed to place 16 satellites into their intended orbits.<\/p>\n
WEighing over 2,300 kilograms, EOS-05 is the heaviest payload ever carried by a GSLV.
