The company announced via its website that users can now book autonomous rides through the Robotaxi app on iOS and Android. While the service is scheduled to expand to Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, and Tampa, current availability is limited to Austin.

According to Tesla, riders cannot specifically request a Cybercab at this time; instead, the vehicle type assigned depends on group size and real-time availability. “Hail your car and use it for errands, commuting and more,” the company stated regarding the new service.

Data cited by The New York Times indicates Tesla holds authorization to operate 314 unmanned vehicles in Texas. The majority of this fleet consists of Model Ys, with only 45 Cybercabs deployed. It remains unclear how many of these units are actively servicing passengers versus participating in testing protocols.

Designed without steering wheels or brake pedals, the Cybercab was engineered for full autonomy. The interior features bench-style seating for two passengers, a central touchscreen, and additional storage capacity for luggage and scooters.

Tesla currently owns all Cybercabs operating in Austin, though the company has expressed interest in future sales. Elon Musk originally envisioned a model where individuals could own multiple vehicles and earn income through a ridesharing network. Although consumer sales are not yet available, Tesla is accepting inquiries from entities interested in purchasing entire fleets to support the expansion of its robotaxi infrastructure.

Tesla has begun offering autonomous Cybercab rides in Austin, marking a key step in its robotaxi rollout despite the fleet remaining small and exclusively company-owned for now.

[4
188,310,144,684,199,458
post-374","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-technology","tag-autonomous-vehicles","tag-cybercab","tag-gadgets","tag-robotaxi","tag-tesla","tag-texas
["GET
