Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health reported on Saturday that the death toll from Israeli military operations in Lebanon has surpassed 8,900 since October 2023, with approximately 30,600 people injured. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) reported that 360,000 people remained displaced by the conflict in August, including at least 22,000 residing in collective shelters. The displacement crisis persists despite the signing of two US-brokered framework agreements in June, which aimed to establish peace terms.<\/p>\n
Israel has maintained a military occupation in southern Lebanon since March, during which it announced the creation of a “buffer” zone. Additionally, the National News Agency reported that Israeli raids and artillery shelling hit seven towns in the Tyre and Nabatieh districts, though no casualties were reported from those specific incidents.<\/p>\n
