Actress Alexandra Artrip, known for her role as Antonia Owens in the 1998 film “Practical Magic,” has addressed the controversy surrounding the recasting of original actors for the upcoming sequel. Artrip, who played the youngest Owens daughter alongside Evan Rachel Wood’s character, spoke out after Wood expressed disappointment that the production team did not reach out to her regarding the new project.<\/p>\n
While acknowledging the sentiment behind fans’ support for the original cast, Artrip posted a video on Instagram urging people to avoid negativity. She praised replacements Joey King and Maisie Williams as “lovely actresses” and stated she believes the production team made the decisions they felt were necessary for the film’s success.<\/p>\n
“I just think we should support the film, give it a shot, go in with an open mind,” Artrip said. “Nothing can take away from what the original film was, and I\u2019m excited that we\u2019re able to build on that world with a new novel, new content in 2026.”<\/p>\n
