Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Endgame Encore” secured the number one spot at the mainland China box office during the Sept. 25–27 period, earning RMB83.8 million ($12.5 million), according to figures from Artisan Gateway.
The re-release has now accumulated a total of $647.8 million in China since its initial launch. The limited theatrical run capitalizes on enduring fan interest in the 2019 superhero epic.
Dirty Monkeys’ war comedy-drama “Once Upon a Time in the Middle East” dropped to second place after a prolonged stay at the top of the charts. The film, directed by Wen Muye and starring Shen Teng, Jiang Qiming, Aarif Rahman, and Omar Sherif, earned an additional $7.6 million in its seventh weekend. Since its Aug. 11 premiere, the feature about a Chinese chef who turns his restaurant into a refuge for civilians and orphans during a fictional Middle Eastern conflict has grossed $341.2 million.
Pearl Studio’s animated fantasy comedy “All Wishes Come True!” maintained third place in its eleventh week, bringing in $4.6 million. Directed by Mu Zhengyang, the film has reached a cumulative total of $296 million since its July 18 release.
In fourth place, Riverrun Grace Film’s crime comedy “The Old Fox” debuted with $3.6 million. Li Taige directed the film, which features Yu Qian as a retiring police officer investigating a theft that leads him into a power struggle with a ruthless corporate chairman portrayed by Tony Leung Ka-fai.
Pearl River Film Group’s crime thriller “V” rounded out the top five, collecting $2.8 million in its sixth frame to bring its lifetime haul to $96 million. Han Yan, known for “Love Never Ends,” directed the ensemble piece starring Tony Leung Ka-fai, Zhu Yilong, Tan Jianci, and Kara Wai, which traces a man’s rapid rise to power and the fallout that ensues.
Overall ticket sales for mainland China totaled $39.9 million for the weekend, reflecting a typical slowdown in the days leading up to the Golden Week holiday. For 2026, the year-to-date box office stands at $4.34 billion, representing a 29.4% decline compared to the same period last year.
