Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear expressed optimism on Sunday regarding the upcoming November elections, stating that the Democratic Party is well-positioned to capture several governorships currently held by Republicans. Speaking with host Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Beshear highlighted a dramatic shift in the political landscape compared to just a year ago.
“If we went back a year ago, Democrats were trying to pick themselves off the floor,” Beshear remarked, describing the previously precarious situation for Democratic gubernatorial candidates. He noted, however, that the dynamic has changed significantly since then, with the Democratic Governors Association chair overseeing a more competitive field.
Beshear indicated that multiple states are now within the “margin of error,” suggesting that several Republican-held governor’s mansions are viable targets for Democratic challengers in the general election.
Funny how quickly things change. Last year they were picking themselves off the floor, now they’re hunting GOP mansions.
What specific states is Beshear talking about? Kentucky isn’t the only one with tight races this cycle.
