Authorities confirmed that while some local residents were evacuated and a security cordon established, the situation is currently considered contained. Bomb disposal experts are examining multiple vehicles at the scene.
RAF Fairford has recently gained prominence as a launch point for American military operations. Following the commencement of the US-Israeli conflict against Iran on February 28, the British government authorized the use of the base for strikes targeting Iranian missile sites. A US Air Force B-52 bomber was observed taking off from the facility on March 19, 2026.
