Amflow TL Carbon Review: Can an E-SUV Bike Handle Both City Streets and Dirt Trails?

The concept of an “electric SUV” e-bike has emerged as a solution for riders seeking a single machine capable of handling both city riding and rugged terrain. Characterized by wide all-terrain tires, front and rear suspension, and practical accessories such as fenders and cargo racks, this subclass aims to bridge the gap between urban asphalt and gravel trails.

To evaluate whether these claims hold up, The Verge tested the new TL Carbon e-bike from Amflow. The Dutch company is a spinoff of DJI, the drone manufacturer that previously revolutionized the mountain biking industry with its compact yet powerful Avinox motors.

The evaluation took place over the course of a month in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The testing regimen included regular urban commutes as well as a three-day bikepacking trip along coastal bicycle superhighways, providing a comprehensive look at the bike’s versatility across different environments.
