Idaho officials announced that a man discovered deceased in a church many years ago may be connected to the notorious 1982 Tylenol murders in the Chicago area, which resulted in stricter child safety regulations for medications.
Detective Tim Cooper of the Ada County Sheriff’s Office reopened the cold case in 2019. The investigation ultimately led to the posthumous identification of Dr. Mathew Francis Betkouski, who fatally poisoned himself with cyanide more than four decades ago and was originally buried under an anonymous grave.
