Jane Smith, the former chief executive of Family First Credit Union in Michigan, is no longer with the organization days after a controversial social media post sparked widespread criticism. On Wednesday, the Saginaw-based credit union released a statement confirming Smith’s departure was effective immediately and that Chief Operations Officer Jason Acosta would serve as interim CEO. The announcement was signed by board chairman Maurice Patterson.
The upheaval followed a Sept. 11 Facebook post by Smith featuring an allegedly AI-edited photograph of her family wearing sweatshirts emblazoned with the words
