After months of speculation regarding a return to McKinley High, Ryan Murphy has confirmed that a script for a “Glee” reboot is officially in hand. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, the show’s creator disclosed that he completed the draft just an hour prior to the interview.
Murphy, along with original co-creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, penned the new material. The trio was responsible for writing the first two seasons of the hit musical drama. Murphy noted that he has reached out to approximately ten members of the original ensemble, describing the conversations as “very sweet” and highlighting their strong interest in the project.
“They all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea,” Murphy said.
This development follows comments made last week by Lea Michele, who portrayed Rachel Berry throughout the series’ six-season run. In an interview with E! News, Michele expressed her willingness to return, stating, “I love ‘Glee.’ I will always love ‘Glee.’ … I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.”
Serious deja vu? Murphy promised this before and it fell flat. Let’s see what the actual script brings to the table.
Finally! I have missed these characters so much. Can’t wait to see if the magic returns after all this time.
