Official documents filed this week indicate that US President Donald Trump conducted extensive stock market trades throughout July, involving significant positions in major technology and artificial intelligence companies. The filings reveal transactions ranging from millions of dollars to smaller purchases across various high-profile firms.
According to the disclosures, Trump sold between $6.5 million and $31 million worth of Microsoft shares while simultaneously purchasing between $165,000 and $400,000 in the software giant’s stock. The portfolio also saw activity in Nvidia and Palantir, with more than 1,000 trades recorded in these companies. Palantir serves as a contractor for both the US Department of Defense and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Additional transactions included stocks in SpaceX and Tesla. SpaceX, the aerospace and AI company founded by Elon Musk, listed its shares on the Nasdaq in June. Despite a sharp decline in value during July and August, the stock is currently trading 14% higher than its initial public offering price. Musk previously led the US Department of Government Efficiency during the administration.
A White House spokesperson emphasized that the president’s financial holdings are managed independently. “Neither President Trump nor any member of his family has any ability to direct, influence or provide input regarding how the portfolio is invested or when investments are bought or sold,” the spokesperson stated, adding that there are no conflicts of interest.
These disclosures continue a pattern established since Trump returned to the White House in January last year, during which thousands of individual stock trades have been publicly reported.
Interesting that he bought Palantir given their government contracts. Does the White House really have no influence, or is this just standard distancing?
Over a thousand trades in July alone? That is a lot of activity for a portfolio supposedly managed completely independently.
