Factor’s menu has expanded significantly beyond standard offerings to include dishes such as barramundi filets with a “Niçoise” olive topping, Caribbean-spiced chicken thighs, and premium-priced filet mignon served with truffle butter. Classic Midwestern meat-and-potatoes options remain available, though the brand has also introduced calzones, flatbread pizzas, mixable salads, and warmable soups. Additionally, customers can order market add-ons like smoothies, protein shakes, and juice blends.
Nutritionally, more than half of the meals provide at least 30 grams of protein, and over 50 percent are labeled as no-gluten-added, typically featuring rice or potato sides. However, Factor notes that its meals are not prepared in a fully gluten-free facility.
Over a two-year testing period, an editor sampled approximately three dozen meals, ranging from breakfast pancakes to steaks, shrimp, and pork chops. The review concluded that while reheated frozen meals do not replicate the quality of freshly cooked food or DIY meal kits like HelloFresh, the proteins generally hold up well. Unlike typically frozen chicken breasts that turn out dry and chalky after reheating, Factor’s never-frozen chicken retains a natural texture. Shrimp was described as plump, and a truffled medium-rare filet mignon steamed according to instructions was noted for its surprising tenderness and juiciness.
The reviewer found that ignoring Factor’s reheating directions in favor of an air fryer yielded superior results. Using a Ninja Crispi air fryer at 340 degrees Fahrenheit for eight minutes produced better crispness on vegetable sides like green beans, carrots, and potatoes, as well as a light browning on pork chops. This method is now preferred by the reviewer, who advocates for Factor to include air fryer instructions on its packaging.
Truffle butter filet mignon? I’m skeptical about the price, but if the chicken stays juicy, it might be worth the premium cost.
I never thought to use an air fryer for these! Definitely trying the 340 degree hack next time. The green beans sounded amazing.
