Williams left the contest in the fourth quarter after sustaining a hamstring injury on a non-contact play. At the time of the incident, Chicago trailed by three points and had reached the Minnesota six-yard line with under eight minutes remaining, presenting a prime scoring opportunity.
Williams had sprinted to his left with open field ahead of him before suddenly stumbling and falling to his knees. He remained on the ground in visible pain before being attended to by medical staff and carted off the field at Soldier Field. The winless offensive output from Minnesota was highlighted by running back Aaron Jones Sr., who rushed for 105 yards, while Carson Wentz completed 11 of 20 passes in his 100th career start.
In a separate weekend matchup, the New Orleans Saints secured a dramatic 24-17 victory over the Baltimore Ravens, evening both teams’ records at 1-1. The game was decided in the final minutes when Saints quarterback Tyler Shough scored on a fourth-down sneak with 1:28 left on the clock.
New Orleans had faced a challenging sequence leading up to the decisive play, dealing with a penalty and an incomplete pass that pushed them to fourth-and-goal from the two-yard line. Choosing not to attempt a short field goal, the Saints executed the sneak, which was upheld following an official review.
The Ravens had one last chance to respond but were unable to convert. After failing to gain a first down on their preceding two drives, Baltimore moved into Saints territory, but a deep pass from Lamar Jackson was intercepted by Julian Blackmon with 13 seconds remaining, sealing the win for New Orleans.
