Police in New South Wales have charged three men with murder following the deaths of three women, all linked to domestic violence, within a span of hours on Saturday.
The victims include a woman in her 90s found dead at a residential unit in Bondi Beach, a 23-year-old in Wagga Wagga, and a woman in her 70s in Mole River.
Sergei Mitnik made his first appearance in bail court on Sunday shortly after being charged with the murder of the elderly Bondi Beach resident. He did not apply for release.
The rapid succession of the incidents has drawn attention to ongoing concerns regarding domestic violence fatalities in the state.
A woman in her 90s? Even the elderly aren’t safe. This is terrifying and outrageous.
We need better domestic violence intervention programs, not just arrests after it’s too late.
How do police manage to charge three people with murder on the same day? This moves incredibly fast.
I live near Bondi. Hard to believe this happened so close to home. So much grief.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. Three families destroyed in one weekend. When will we see real change?
