The widespread travel disruption that gripped UK airports earlier this month was the result of a software defect within the National Air Traffic Services (NATS) system, the organization confirmed on Tuesday. NATS described the issue as a “software glitch” that forced a temporary halt to operations at its main air traffic control center in Swanwick, Hampshire.
