Venezuela Unblocks Selected News Sites Amid Renewed Transition Talks

Venezuela’s telecommunications regulator announced Thursday that the nation has removed internet blocks on several news outlets that had been censored for years. The decision comes as dialogue regarding a political transition, backed by the United States, is scheduled to restart.

According to VE Sin Filtro, a digital rights organization, the restoration of access was confirmed across multiple internet service providers. The group verified that 17 news sites are once again reachable by users.

Despite this partial reopening, significant restrictions remain in place. VE Sin Filtro reported that at least 188 websites continue to be blocked, including 79 distinct news outlets.
