China’s Moonshot Links Kimi AI to Major Financial Data Providers

Beijing-based artificial intelligence startup Moonshot announced on Thursday that it has integrated its Kimi model with leading financial data providers, marking a significant push into commercial applications for the tech industry.

The company revealed that prominent financial clients, including investment bank CICC and venture capital firm Hong Shan (formerly Sequoia China), are now utilizing Kimi tools. This move highlights how AI developers are increasingly focusing on delivering tangible, professional-grade solutions rather than relying solely on general consumer adoption.

Through the new Kimi for financial services feature, users can access critical data sources directly within the platform. These include S&P Global Market Intelligence, Crunchbase, Wind Information, local business database Tianyancha, and major financial news outlets. Additionally, the system provides direct connectivity to U.S. regulatory filings via the SEC’s EDGAR database, as well as data from the IMF, World Bank, and the Federal Reserve’s FRED economic data site.

Kimi subscription tiers range from 49 yuan ($7.31) to 699 yuan ($104.23) per month. Access levels to specific datasets vary depending on the user’s subscription package, according to tests conducted on the mobile application.

Samuel Fischer, the Beijing branch manager at Deutsche Bank, emphasized the importance of combining robust AI capabilities with specialized industry knowledge. In a promotional video released by Moonshot, Fischer stated that AI systems capable of understanding real financial workflows while ensuring data security and reliability are best positioned to drive transformation in the sector. He noted that these tools can now organize complex information, identify inconsistencies, and support preliminary analysis.

It remained unclear as of Thursday whether Deutsche Bank has officially subscribed to the service, as the bank did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The launch follows the July release of Kimi K3, an open-weight model that Moonshot claimed outperforms most rivals, trailing only Anthropic’s Claude Fable 5 and OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 in overall capability. Reports indicate that Moonshot has confidentially filed for a Hong Kong initial public offering, though the company has declined to comment on market speculation regarding the listing.
