A massive search operation is underway in Suffolk following the disappearance of a three-year-old boy from a local park. Noah, who has autism, is partially deaf, and is non-verbal, became separated from a relative around 15:00 BST on Tuesday at a small playground on Merriam Close in Brantham.
Suffolk Police reported that the toddler ran down an alleyway toward a newly built housing estate. He was last seen wearing a white Bluey T-shirt, shorts, and white trainers. Officers described him as having curly ginger hair and noted that he does not respond when his name is called.
Authorities have urged residents to check their gardens, sheds, and outbuildings. A helicopter has been deployed to survey the area, which is located near the River Stour estuary close to the Essex border. Ground teams, including coastguard rescue units from Felixstowe and Holbrook, have been conducting door-to-door inquiries.
The incident caused disruptions to rail services between Manningtree and Ipswich, with passengers informed of reduced speeds due to ongoing searches. BBC reporter Zoie O’Brien stated that over 100 people joined the effort on Tuesday evening, with some volunteers assisting in fields and wooded areas behind the estate.
Suffolk Police expressed gratitude for the public’s response, calling the support “overwhelming” in a Facebook post. A coastguard spokesperson confirmed their assistance to the constabulary. Searches are continuing into the night as authorities work to locate the child.
