Ford has announced significant changes to its 2027 F-150 lineup, restoring the availability of V-8 engines across every trim level and introducing a new Carhartt collaboration. The automaker is also reducing prices on certain performance-oriented models.
Todd Eckert, senior director of truck consumer marketing for Ford Blue, stated that the decision to broaden the engine offerings makes strategic sense without diminishing the capabilities of other powertrains. The company will offer its 5.0-liter V-8 engine as an option on all F-150 variants.
Notably, this marks the first time since the 2023 model year that customers can configure the high-end King Ranch and Platinum editions with a V-8 engine. Eckert noted that feedback from both dealers and buyers indicated strong demand for this configuration even on premium series trucks.
In addition to powertrain adjustments, the 2027 refresh includes styling updates and the debut of a Carhartt model developed in partnership with the Detroit-based apparel brand.
These updates come as Ford works to stabilize production after severe aluminum supply disruptions over the past year. Fires at a key supplier significantly curtailed output, disproportionately affecting the F-Series lineup—including the F-150 and larger Super Duty models like the F-250, F-350, and F-450—due to their extensive use of aluminum in bodies and components.
Hope the price cuts are real and not just hiding smaller features. Also, a Carhartt edition for a truck feels like a stretch.
