Channel 4 Secures Paramount Ad Sales Deal in Major Boost for Broadcaster

Channel 4 has acquired the television advertising sales business for Paramount, the owner of Channel 5, securing a deal valued at more than £300 million. The move was executed directly from Sky, marking a significant competitive shift in the UK media landscape.

This acquisition serves as a substantial commercial boost for Channel 4, arriving shortly after the broadcaster confirmed plans to reduce its workforce by 340 positions.

The win further consolidates Channel 4’s role in the industry, as it already manages advertising sales for UKTV. UKTV, which operates networks such as Gold and Dave, generates approximately £1 billion in annual revenue, with roughly 90% of that income derived from advertising.

  1. I hope those 340 job cuts don’t affect the content we love. Commercial success shouldn’t mean losing the creative soul of the channel.

  2. Wait, so they fired people just before landing a £300m deal? Sounds like cost-cutting to make the acquisition look better on paper.

  3. This is huge for Channel 4. Consolidating Paramount and UKTV sales will make them a real powerhouse against the commercial rivals.
