Stephen Colbert Celebrates Emmy Win and Free Speech After Late Show’s Cancellation

Although CBS has canceled “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” the host remains confident in the future of late-night television following his show’s victory for Outstanding Variety Series at Monday night’s Emmy Awards.

In a post-ceremony interview with CNN’s Elizabeth Wagmeister and Variety co-president Ramin Setoodeh, Colbert expressed that he believes “free speech is alive and well.” He clarified his stance by noting, “Because if you can’t say something because you go to jail, that is a violation of free speech.”
