Ludek Miklosko, the former goalkeeper for West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers, has died at the age of 64. The club announced that Miklosko, who had been living with cancer, passed away following his long illness.
Miklosko began his career in his native Czech Republic before joining West Ham from Baník Ostrava in 1990 for a transfer fee of £300,000. He secured his place in the squad after a successful trial and immediately contributed to the Hammers’ promotion to the top flight during his debut season.
Over the course of eight years at the Hawthorns, Miklosko made 373 appearances for the club before departing in 1998. His move to QPR initially took the form of a loan spell.
On the international stage, Miklosko earned 42 caps, representing both Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic between 1982 and the turn of the millennium.
Did anyone else notice how young he was? Only 64 is far too young to go.
