Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s party secured 27.2% of the vote, a modest decline from the 31.7% it achieved during the 2021 local elections. The Social Democratic Party (SPD), which heads the current state-level coalition, finished in second place with 24.6% support, dropping significantly from its 30% share in 2021.
