More than 2,000 Yemeni nationals have crossed the Red Sea into Djibouti to escape intensifying combat along Yemen’s western coastline, according to reports published on September 13, 2026.

The influx of refugees comes as Houthi militants continue to broaden their grip on key areas along the strategic Red Sea shore. The ongoing military expansion has triggered significant internal displacement within Yemen, with figures now surpassing 85,000 individuals forced from their homes.

The deteriorating security situation has prompted civilians to seek safety in neighboring Djibouti, highlighting the growing humanitarian impact of the renewed fighting in the region.
