Docs Reveal London Underground Staff Exposed to Asbestos Without Required Masks

Hundreds of London Underground employees may have been subjected to asbestos exposure for almost 20 years without access to the protective face masks required by safety regulations, according to documents reviewed by the Guardian.

Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2002, employers are obligated to implement a range of precautions when hazardous materials are present. Among these requirements is the provision of individually fitted face masks to workers who are at risk of inhaling toxic dust particles.

The findings suggest that despite these legal mandates, staff may have continued working in contaminated environments without the necessary personal protective equipment for nearly two decades.
