Secret son sparks succession clash in Ugandan Tooro kingdom

A severe dispute over the throne of Uganda’s Tooro kingdom has erupted following the death of King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV. Members of the late monarch’s family are challenging a committee’s decision to appoint his cousin, a television news anchor, as his successor.

King Rukidi IV, who ascended to the throne in 1995 at just three years old, becoming the world’s youngest reigning monarch at the time, passed away on August 27 in the United States while undergoing treatment for cancer.

The rejection by the king’s relatives highlights the deep divisions within the royal lineage, with rumors of a secret son further complicating the succession process.
