Jimmy Kimmel announced Wednesday that his upcoming interview with Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico will take place “under unusual circumstances.” Rather than broadcasting the segment on television as part of Jimmy Kimmel Live, the show will post the full interview directly to YouTube.
Kimmel attributed the decision to concerns about potential retaliation from the Federal Communications Commission under the current Trump administration. He stated that the FCC has previously threatened him, the program, the ABC network, and local affiliate stations over standard editorial choices and guest selections they found objectionable.
The host emphasized that the move was made out of consideration for local stations, particularly ABC affiliates in Texas, to shield them from possible regulatory consequences.
