A Florida man is set to be executed on Thursday following his conviction in connection with the Hog Trail Murders, a series of suspected killings that took place during the 1990s.
Daniel Owen Conahan Jr, 72, received a death sentence via lethal injection for the 1996 kidnapping and strangulation of Richard Allen Montgomery. Authorities discovered Montgomery’s mutilated remains in a wooded area in south-west Florida, a location where the bodies of at least six other individuals have been recovered over a three-year period.
If carried out, Conahan’s execution will mark the 15th such event in the state this year.
1996? He has been on death row for decades. Does this delay serve justice?
Florida executes more than any other state. Are we really fixing anything here?
I was unaware the victim was found near the other Hog Trail bodies. How tragic.
This is terrible. At what point does this become inhumane?
