Apple Unveils $50 Monthly AppleCare One Family Plan

During its recent launch event featuring the iPhone Duo and iPhone 18, Apple announced a new tier for its AppleCare One insurance program in the United States. Designed for families, the new AppleCare One Family plan is priced at $50 per month and provides coverage for eligible devices belonging to up to six family members.

According to Apple’s official website, the plan covers all eligible devices owned by plan members. Eligible products generally include most Apple devices that are less than four years old. Existing devices can be manually added to the plan, while new products linked to the family’s shared Apple ID are automatically included.

This offering expands upon Apple’s existing protection options. The standard AppleCare+ plan covers only a single device, and the individual AppleCare One plan is limited to three devices, all registered under one subscriber’s Apple ID. In contrast, the new family tier supports six users. However, the annual limit for theft and loss claims is capped at six incidents per year, equating to one claim per member. This is higher than the two claims allowed under AppleCare+ and the three claims permitted for individual AppleCare One subscribers.

Beyond theft and loss protection, the family plan includes standard AppleCare+ benefits such as complimentary battery replacements and repairs for accidental damage, including screen and back glass issues. To qualify for the AppleCare One Family plan, users must first enable Family Sharing on their Apple device by navigating to Settings, selecting their Apple ID, and inviting up to five additional members. Once the group is established, subscribers can activate the plan through the AppleCare & Warranty section in Settings.
