Florida officials reported Tuesday that investigators have determined pilots on an Amazon cargo flight attempted to abort their landing just seconds before the aircraft crashed into a van at Miami International Airport, killing five people. The victims were employees of an aircraft cleaning service who were working in a van on the ground when the plane overrun the runway.
During a press conference Tuesday evening, representatives from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) disclosed findings from the aircraft’s flight data recorder, commonly known as the black box. The device, which was recovered from the wreckage on Monday, indicates that the crew initiated a go-around procedure moments before impact occurred on Saturday.
