Hurricane Lowell has struck the Hawaiian islands, unleashing a potent combination of heavy rainfall, high winds, and hazardous surf that has left residential areas in disarray. According to CBS News correspondent Carter Evans, certain regions experienced as much as 2 feet of precipitation during the storm’s passage.

Rob Marciano provided the meteorological breakdown, noting that wind gusts reached speeds of 90 mph. The intense atmospheric disturbance also spawned massive ocean swells, known as monster waves, posing additional threats to coastal communities.

The severe weather conditions have resulted in significant damage to housing and infrastructure across the archipelago. Residents are currently dealing with the aftermath of the natural disaster as emergency responses continue.

  1. Seems like every year these storms get more intense. Is climate change making Hawaii’s hurricane season this volatile?

  2. Are the monster waves expected to persist for days? The surf reports are looking absolutely brutal right now.
