Roadlesstravelled Makes Chase Debut as Sky Sports Racing Covers Bangor-on-Dee

Sky Sports Racing will present live jumps racing coverage on Tuesday, featuring a card from Bangor-on-Dee and notable contests at Lyon-Parilly. The day’s headline act sees Grade Two winner Roadlesstravelled transition from hurdles to fences for the first time.

Roadlesstravelled competes in the John Hewitt Memorial Novices’ Limited Handicap Chase at 5:12 PM. The seven-year-old began his career with an impeccable record, securing three victories from three starts over hurdles, which included a win in a Grade Two novice hurdle. However, his form has declined since then; he pulled up in the Formby Novices’ Hurdle in December 2024 and spent several months competing on the Flat.

He ran too keenly in his most recent Flat race and returns to obstacle racing after a break of nearly four months. Having won an Irish point-to-point convincingly in May 2023, he faces a potential resurgence if connections Jonjo and AJ O’Neill have restored his fitness. In this contest, Captain Cool possesses the most experience over fences and carries a British Horseracing Authority rating of 131, setting a high benchmark. Krak, who was beaten by 10 lengths previously but may have lacked the distance, is another contender. Ice In The Veins, who finished 25 lengths behind Captain Cool in June, may find the race tighter due to weight penalties.

At Lyon-Parilly, the Listed Criterium de Lyon at 11:55 AM features a clash between San Giorgio and Master Man. Trained by Francis-Henri Graffard, San Giorgio is progressing with each run, having recently secured his first victory. He boasts strong form lines, having finished behind France’s top two-year-old, Avec Toi, and displayed promise when running on behind Ciceron. Be My Friend, who finished just behind San Giorgio on that occasion, won impressively at Vichy in his next start and will pose a significant threat.

Master Man enters with a consistent record, having won two of his three starts. Skyridge and Palais Byzantin are also expected to be competitive after a narrow encounter in July, though they may lack the developmental scope of the top contenders.

Back at Bangor-on-Dee, the 5:42 PM Paul Ferguson’s Jumper To Follow Novices’ Hurdle is headlined by the Dan Skelton-trained Hidden Fortune. The five-year-old achieved a winning start over hurdles after two strong bumpers and shows considerable potential, particularly over longer distances and softer ground. Her primary challenge comes from Provision, who broke his maiden by 10 lengths last time. Ride Like A Girl and Secret Beach, making his hurdle debut, are also among the field. Elsewhere, Auteuil offers a nine-race card including a Listed contest, while Lyon-Parilly features informative maiden races.
