The creators of “South Park” marked their Emmy victory on Sunday night by delivering one final satirical jab at President Donald Trump. The show’s official X account shared an image depicting the president with his pants and underwear around his ankles, holding an Emmy award aloft.
The post congratulated Trey Parker, Matt Stone, and the production team on winning Outstanding Animated Program. Above Trump’s head in the graphic, text read, “You finally got your Emmy,” a clear reference to the president’s previous losses in that category. Trump was nominated twice for “The Apprentice” in 2004 and 2005 but failed to secure a win.
Trump has been a central antagonist in recent seasons of the series. Season 27, which premiered after a two-year hiatus, featured some of the most explicit and politically charged episodes in the show’s history, including a scene with Trump, Satan, and the future father of his child, as well as a deep-faked video of a naked Trump in a desert.
Parker addressed the show’s heavy political focus in an interview with The New York Times, stating that the characters did not become political but rather that politics became integrated into pop culture. He noted that government influence is now pervasive through various media, from podcasts to TikTok, making the political landscape unavoidable for the series.
I wonder if the Emmy committee even noticed the graphic, or did they just see the win? Either way, Parker and Stone are unstoppable.
